Actually, not my direct manager, but she still has authority over me... it's complicated.

I said "oh probably, yes" and she said she probably would too.

Believe me there's no doubt who she supports.

It left me in a bit of a dilemma. What if she brings it up again. Career suicide? or lie and not stand up for my beliefs?

I think I've decided to say I don't want to get into politics at work but...

May the best man win!

I would say that I don't talk politics at work. It's divisive & hurts morale no matter which side you believe.

Lie. The next day tell her you missed the debate because an old friend from out of town unexpectedly dropped in to visit just as the debate was about to start and you had to entertain your guest.
