It's wise to remember that we are an echo chamber. Granted we're one with far more common sense and we are significantly more based in reality than the leftist bubbles, but we are still a bubble.

The worst case scenario is totally possible. Biden could sleep all day, wake up just in time to get pumped with drugs, have been prepping for his leaked questions all week, and he may actually be able to go out and stand on the stage and not completely fuck up scripted answers. If the moderator protects him enough that he never needs to go off script it's possible his dementia will be hidden enough for the media to completely ignore it and declare victory ("he proved he's still mentally capable and that makes him better than evil orange man").

Honestly I'd be surprised if it goes that well for him, and surprised if he shows up at all, but that doesn't mean it's not a possible outcome. If they could push a "he's capable" narrative hard enough this time they could/would likely get out of the rest of the debates entirely. The question they must answer tomorrow is: is he in good enough shape for it to be a better risk than trying again later or refusing to debate at all. I think if it's a below average day for him they cancel, an above average day then they roll the dice.

the debate may be interuppted by technical glitches....today/tonight, a whole bunch of 911 systems went down in various states in large cities and towns. also phone outages in south carolina and ransomeware attacks on hospitals in texas. there was something else that i saw briefly, that i want to say had to deal with flights or maybe infrastructure. practice run?

This is a reasonable expectation. Biden probably shows up, gives a forgettable performance, and the media will pretend it was amazing. Biden might even try to "act tough" toward Trump and the left will love it.
