Like the idea of long range walkie talkies. NO CHILD SHOULD HAVE UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO CELL PHONES OR LAPTOPS. All media/conputers should be placed in central locations where their use can be supervised at all times. The screen should be facing you so you can observe what they are looking at. Same goes for TVs. They do not need one in their rooms. If your child "needs" a phone get a prepaid flip phone or one with no internet. Confiscate these once they are in the house and definitely don't allow use at night. Or better yet don't give them one at all. Avoid sending your children to play with those who have unrestricted access to internet/media. It may feel like an uphill battle but it can be done.
Your kids are going to thank you & your spouse when they grow older.
This of course, assumes the coming civil war doesn't swallow most everyone as statistics.
