Turns out after his accountant sorted out his taxes and filed them by the extension deadline, he only owed $750 both those years. He then instructed the IRS to KEEP THOSE PAYMENTS, and apply them to any future tax bills.
Every year I go to a tax accountant and try to find every single deduction or other means to pay as absolutely little tax as humanly possible and if my tax burden was $0 I would walk out with a huge smile on my face and go out and celebrate.
