Right now the expectation for Joe is to totally flub up tonight. The bar is set really low. If he comes out and keeps the gaffe's to a minimum he will be lauded by the media as being the clear winner of the debate regardless of the topics and answers to said topics.
Let him shit his pants for all I care...no breaks Creepy Joe. Or he has several small children backstage and he might need to go take a sniff and grab a breast every 30 min.
It was a bad idea to set the expectations so low but then again I doubt Biden will be able to hide his dementia for 90 minutes going up against Trump.
Trump will bring up a sore subject like Hunter's dealings and Biden will respond angrily. Biden will think he's coming off strong but in reality he'll look completely unhinged.

He was always going to be the clear winner according to the media. His performance doesn't matter to the talking heads. The rest of the country will make their own judgment call. No way Joe wins the hearts and minds of America tonight.
