To those that thing Trump didn't win the debate, you are right. Because this wasn't a debate. You can't debate a guy that takes turns (1) lying, (2) reading talking points like this is a speech, and (3) completely ignoring whatever the point happens to be.
These debates were never going to be policy vs policy because Biden would not let them be. His entire strategy is "I'm not Trump".
So while Trump didn't win the debate, he WON THE FIGHT. Because Trump was able to reveal Biden as a temperamental asshole. Will you shut up man, clown, racist. Nobody on a Presidential debate stage (including Trump himself) has gotten that personal or used such language.
Why do you think there are so many people on social media saying "they both lost today". I guarantee you a lot of people are turned off by Biden tonight. They wanted a guy that was going to be "presidential", not a guy that was going to out-Trump Trump and tell the POTUS to shut up. Cause otherwise, why exactly are they voting for Biden then?
I think that was the strategy. I know Trump was intentionally being very aggressive, but I've been trying to figure out what the play was with it. I think part of the strategy was to get under Biden's skin and make him totally lose it, complete sensory overload. Which seems to have somewhat worked, though not as spectacularly as I hoped. Trump knew Biden would be drugged up like hell so I bet he knew Biden wasn't gonna have a total brain meltdown, but he still calculated each possibility and saw that if he could get Biden to snap even a little bit, it would be the best possible outcome (considering if he played it nice and didn't interrupt, Biden would just spew out his lying rehearsed crap that sounds good to normies but has no backing, and in turn, Trump would just get continually cut off and manipulated into tough positions by the moderator)
I think Trump did spectacularly succeed in getting under Biden's skin. The guy was never going to physically assault Trump or cuss.
But short of that, I'm not sure how much more reaction he could have elicited from Biden. The guy literally told the POTUS "will you shut up man". Then called him a clown and a racist.
These debates are never policy vs policy because that's just a stalemate and the people that actually care about that kind of thing already have picked their man.
I was hoping for more dementia Biden with the dog faced pony soldier and look fat and that kinda ranting. Honestly went into the debate expecting to laugh a lot. Instead I'm just frustrated, tired and feel like I wasted my time watching a 2v1.
Again Trump definitely knew there would be no dog faced pony soldier stuff since he knew Biden would be drugged up. He knew. So I think Trump probably played extra aggro to get some things out of Biden, which worked. He basically pulled a "quiet" and "low energy" Jeb! meme with Biden when he called out Biden on being a terrible student, interjected that Biden was number 2, that stuff.
