That whole first verse is completely relevant with this line in it!

Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a Biden softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence

Only semi-related, but how freaking good were Simon & Garfunkel? Goddamn, right? Better than the Beatles.

Actual beetles fuckin about are better than the actual Beatles.

*ducks and covers from downvoters.

IM SORRY THEY PLAY SONGS I IMAGINE 5 YEAR OLDS CAN PLAY ON POTS AND PANS. LITERALLY THEIR MUSIC IS SO SIMPLE YOU CAN LEARN THEIR ENTIRE COLLECTION IN 2 HOURS. like if you send your kid to music school, they’re going to teach “intro the whatever instrument” and just teach them Beatles songs cause it’s 2 chords and like one bass drum a cymbal and a snare. The Beatles are the cavemen of music. The only reason anyone knows about them is cause they were the first to paint in caves (even though a 5 year olds scribbles look better than the best cave paintings, people still rave about the cave painting) ie just fucking play concert after concert til their fingers got stuck in the exact same spot from playing the same chord over and over again.

That being said, here comes the sun and come together are all right.

The beetles are a bunch of tea drinking British commies.

No down vote here, I totally agree, they were WAY overrated. At best they were a competent pop band with some catchy pop songs and once they got popular, everything they put out was still no better than that, and lots of it was self indulgent and mundane.

They were so popular that there was no one who would say that out loud, and they eventually got so full of themselves they split up, and nothing any of them did after that was remarkable at all. Lennon was a marxist disguised as a hippee wrapped up in an asshole. Mcartney was just what he always was, a pop singer with a decent band behind him, Harrison was better off doing other things than music, and well Ringo was just Ringo, a decent, fun guy who could slap some drums.

Although I am throwing some shade here, I don't really hate them per se, (well, except Lennon), but it's just that they were so over rated.

This is because they were a big part of a change in music and they were at the right place at the right time to capitalize on that.

Terrible music

The Beatles were a communist-CIA operation design to disrupt and degrade American culture.

I mean look at this shit:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too

I have it on good authority that Art Garfunkel Jr is super-based

I never thought his Dad got his due. He was/is a meteoric talent. Perhaps not quite on the level of Paul Simon, but who is? Garfunkel really made Simon & Garfunkel possible. Paul was going to be fine without him, but those songs? Bridge Over Troubled Waters, America, American Tune, I Am a Rock? I could go on and on and on.

This is what I love about America. Men like Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. National Treasures. James Taylor is a living God too, if we're making a list.
