IM SORRY THEY PLAY SONGS I IMAGINE 5 YEAR OLDS CAN PLAY ON POTS AND PANS. No down vote here, I totally agree, they were WAY overrated. At best they were a competent pop band with some catchy pop songs and once they got popular, everything they put out was still no better than that, and lots of it was self indulgent and mundane.
They were so popular that there was no one who would say that out loud, and they eventually got so full of themselves they split up, and nothing any of them did after that was remarkable at all. Lennon was a marxist disguised as a hippee wrapped up in an asshole. Mcartney was just what he always was, a pop singer with a decent band behind him, Harrison was better off doing other things than music, and well Ringo was just Ringo, a decent, fun guy who could slap some drums.
Although I am throwing some shade here, I don't really hate them per se, (well, except Lennon), but it's just that they were so over rated.
This is because they were a big part of a change in music and they were at the right place at the right time to capitalize on that.
