I think Trump won.

I was in the living room with ny mom, I was watching Steven Crowder’s show on my computer while she watched on the television. Within 10 minutes she was so disgusted with Trump’s behavior (interupting Biden, arguing with Wallace) that she turned it off.

That seems bad for Trump, right? Maybe he turned off a lot of people?

No. The reality is that there’s NOTHING Trump could say or do that would get my mom or any other TDS individual to vote for him. Nothing. Therefore, Trump disregarded people like her and kept going, steamrolling biden and wallace the whole time.

We (his base) loved him shutting down Biden, and he used his many interruptions and comments to get his policy across. What Trump was aiming for was to spread his message and record across to people who:

  1. Aren’t bothered by his personality

  2. Have been fed lies by the mainstream media for years.

In that sense, I think Trump will see an approval bump from this, regardless of how much leftists may screech about his unpresidential attitude.

Reminds me of 2016 when they kept saying that he was only appealing to his base. Well, it turns out his base came out to vote.

Agree, it was much more important that he get the bits of key info out, despite Wallace doing his best to completely muzzle him, than to just passively play nice / play by the rules.

stable genius strikes again, Trump can be respectfull of the rules but he quickly saw how the moderator was a sold out, taking a passive position in such a situation is basically giving up and losing the debate, the aproach was great, he went in harder and that first debate is won, not even in commie reddit you find biden-favorable news about the debate.

I have read on other forums I frequent how turned off they were by Trump's behavior. I think you're spot on though.

People who aren't die hard Trump fans may feel that he was "unhinged" or being a bully because the reality of what happened last night was this...

Trump just went on live television and had to debate an old man with dementia. Jesus Christ could have been debating Joe Biden and would have come across as a bully.

And I believe Trump would have come across as less "unhinged" had Chris Wallace not been there debating for Biden. Trump had to ramp up the energy because he was going against Biden, Chris Wallace, and the Fake News Media.
