Good morning patriots
Hope everyone slept well after the president and Chris Wallace debated about the issues last night.
We've had some great threads and comments about what happened last night. Now that you've had time to digest it we'd like to give you the opportunity to seriously discuss any questions, issues, or anything that happened.
Top level comments should be only something that happened during the debate. Links to highlights, fact checks, questions, etc.
For those who missed it.
Simply put, out of all Presidential Debates; this one is in a group all by itself (even moreso than the first round of DJT vs Side-O-Beef) for many reasons:
Strategically: GEOTUS seems to have gone in this first debate with 3 goals, and accomplished them.
1 First, was his usual "good generalling" of making light contact with the enemy, by sending forward scouts and skirmishers to find where the battlelines are, the terrain is, any allies/enemy's allies, where the weakspots are, what hills the enemy is choosing to die on, etc. DJT has done this in the past, and is good way of doing things. Unlike 2016, because of Covid and his opponent basement hiding; this was the first real good first-hand assesment that GEOTUS could make/get. (As even in 2016 there were other events like the Red Dinner or the 9/11 memorial service where DJT and Shillary were nearby each other, as well as more time in the past, at events together incl weddings, etc.)
2 Secondly, Remove the perception gap between "crass/rude vs "Presidential"" i.e. The narrative (and real amongst a small slice of voters) how DJT's personality vs Hiden's. This "debate" showed that there is no "Presidential" aire to Hidden, he's rude and crass... seriously, his calling the sitting POTUS a clown TWICE in the election season's first national/internationally televised debate, among many other things. This removes the gap between those "Republicans" whom say they like Trump except for his "personality", and those "Democrats" whom say they want someone "Presidential" in office. These reasonings were removed from the table last night... and this is very important for moving a few % each from the Bidden turnout column into the Trump turnout column.
3 Thirdly, to get Mr. 47 year Swamp Creature, to admit/reveal to Hiden's "allies" (ie the factions within the Democratic Party) that Hiden is policy lyin' about what he's promised them for their support. So as rough as it was, on many key policy areas, DJT got Hiden to admit that Hiden is lyin' to various major Dem factions and that Hiden/Hairis isn't even honest about what they stand for or what they'll do if in office/power. This is a major accomplishment, as it's not very easy to do; essentially DJT just made Hiden pull back the curtain and show how fractured and dis-unified the DEM party is. Even better still, is some of those fractured elements, like true environmentalists whom want clean air/water, were shown that it's DJT and the Republicans whom are delivering on these issues; similar to DJT's GREAT speech last week in Atlanta.
Tactically: This is more difficult, since this would be like saying, "How are things going for the Union on the First Day of the Battle of Gettysburg?" DJT has chosen a path that is rather unconventional to say the least, but gets the end results he's after. Many things went well, including DJT removing the namecalling at least this round, as it would have gotten in the way of his other objectives. I'll not spell out much here because, no reason to help the Dem campaign.
This being said, there are ways things can be run more smoothly, similar to how GEOTUS says his response to Covid is an A+ but the WH Covid messaging is a D-. Honestly, most of these rough-debate things, like the WH Press Corps, or Covid 19 messaging doesn't have to be this way. They are very fixable, just takes the will to and the right person helping GEOTUS be the best he can be.
Issues with the moderator were going to be a given. (But what last few specks of respect I had for CW, no longer exist.) Issues with "Facts" were going to be a given. Issues with Biden's pre-canned/written and memorized answers were a given.
Other Pede's have pointed out a great many things as well; but overall this needs to be said for a few weeks now, and came home to roost last night.
A major problem that is fairly easily remedied, is these last weeks of rallies; the telepromter message aka "the messaging", has been falling behind where GEOTUS is in his head and the events; i.e. It needs more regular updating between events.
This is partly a timing issue, a staffing issue, and having a person to do it. Basically, if you listen to a rally, and see where GEOTUS brings something up off-script say 20 mins into his 90 min rally, but then that same sentence/topic is written into the telepropmter outline, so he repeats himself say at 70 mins. This causes the same errors that happened last night in the debate. Ex. in football there is offense and defense, and other "plays" like special teams, and special plays like trick plays and 2 min drills. During the game every play isn't going to be part of a 2min drill; but when the clock has 2mins left in the half, or when the need arises, the 2 min drill can be done and it's been practiced and rehearsed.
The slow "refreshing/updating/re-write/edit" of the "message" on the rally teleprompter, has to keep up with the fast 20hr/day Speed of Trump, otherwise it is like turning a 2 min drill into a 12 min drive downfield to score... and that's not what's needed when there is only 2 mins on the clock! Trump thinks fast, and needs a coach that thinks as fast as he does to condense and update his 2min drills and trick plays.
Also can rapidly fix the WH Press Corps. DJT can still spar with them if it's called for, but overall there's no reason to let the USA and world have to have a D- in Covid messaging from the WH, when it could be an A+, along with everything else.
MAGA ON!
PS BTW In hindsight, historians will mark this debate salient for many reasons; but it will be given prescience; because&since the radical lefties/Marxists/Democrats continue to once again drive the USA into kinetic division. I've watched a ton of POTUS debates, and this was the worst to have to force myself to watch and that's even with loving GEOTUS; but the precipice our Republic is at, it was what was the mudwrestling match that needed to be done.
Thank you President DJT, and let's iron out the wrinkles for the next debates; time is of the essence.
