Every time you hear him say 'Chingus', that is Genghis Kahn. Just about everything in Mongolia still holds reverence for Genghis Kahn. This lasting impact is what happens when a society has a God Emperor.
We will not just have Trump 2020, but Trump Eternal.
sounds correct, may or may not be, I'd have to check the history of china podcast where he discusses the mongol invasions through the song perspective (guy's a commie but he does good china history, just don't look at his twitter)
Tuva had some fantastic stamps with yaks on. Followed the trail of "where is Tuva?" and wound up with a throat singing album. Maybe the same one. Never found anyone else who knew about it. Only here on TDW. .. shoulda known cuz it's family... Pepe would understand
I do love their based nationalistic lyrics. Yuve yuve yu is probably the best in that regard. Basically a call for Mongolians to stop sitting on their asses, be proud of their heritage, and Make Mongolia Great Again.
If you do it correctly the sound is generated from the base of your neck below your larynx. I could sing for hours at full volume and as long as I remember to stay in the lower octaves it doesn't irritate the throat or make me hoarse.
There are a bunch of traditional Mongolian/Tuvan folk songs that I think are universally beautiful. Apart from the vocals, they sound like they could have come from a dozen different cultures around the world.
If you're into it, there's a pretty good documentary called "Ghengis Blues" out there. It's about a blind guy named Paul Pena who learns throat singing while listening to shortwave radio and then travels to Tuva to enter a singing competition.
Incidentally, the blind guy wrote the popular Steve Miller Band song, "Jet Airliner" and also made one of the most amazing rock albums that never got released in it's time due to a contract dispute.
After hearing it once through I was able to sing with him. Let me know if you want me to transcribe (not translate) the lyrics. I'll do just the first line for ya.
Aowww
Well, that's as far as I got so far. It's a catchy tune though!
Mongolian Pepe, one steppe at a time.
I khan't bear that pun.
I ghengis where you got it though
That's not a very Borjiginal pun.
Yurt

isn't khan/kahn supposed to be khagan as well?
I don't know much about Mongolia.
But I'm pretty sure they currently pronounce it like chingus kahan
khagan. ...Kagan... another supreme court pick?

Khagan is an alternative form, especially in Turkic usage.
This post spurred me back into listening to Tuvan throat singing. I was checking out Kongar-ol Ondar on Spotify.
His top song: Kongurey (Where Has My Country Gone?)
Indeed.
I used to play a huun huur tu cd really loud in my truck when I picked up my kids from school and stuff.
I convinced all their friends it was my favorite music. (It is cool stuff)
Many years later their friends still talk about it.
The stuff really jams if you got good subs.
Kongar-ol Ondar is the shit.
If you can, check out his appearances on Letterman. Dude was uncontainable.

Tuvian throat singing is the most interesting and pleasant musical style to my western ears that the east has.
I started learning to throat sing about a month ago. It’s weird as fuck and I sound like a dying animal, but it’s so satisfying.
This Pepe is great !
Congratulations, you’re a natural!
snort KEK!
Have any examples?
I found a good Mongolian Folk Rock group, combines the throat singing with rock influence. They're called The Hu. I really like them. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs6vRDdkZ8bP8Xt6WHbvrwA Here's a couple links for more traditional stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMndPTS0KLY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx8hrhBZJ98 And a long one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0djHJBAP3U Enjoy!
Hu is pretty good and the lyrics are based Mongol

Wow that's some pretty intoxicating music right there!
Lemme go smoke a fatty and don the headphones!
If you do it right you can get an awesome growl/roar with impressive volume and it doesn't fuck your larynx up like screaming or yelling does.
A battle cry made like that would make me shit my pants, even if my side was the ones to use it.

Does that damage your throat and voice and make you sound like Kate Mulgrew all the time?
No damage. If you go too hard too fast you might strain yourself or something, but nothing permanent.
I had a few coughing fits when I first started, but few now.
On the plus side, I can fling snot/phlegm off my larynx now like nobody's business. Great if you have a cold/allergies !
