I think a lot of people don't have the facts on that story. He entered the Navy Reserves, at 43. He got a waiver to do so, because of his age, and his past drug convictions (Joe arranged the waiver). He was bounced out on his junky ass a month later after failing a drug test. That's basically the gist of the Wiki entry on it.
He did not do boot camp, he was in a special program as a staffer, the media talked about it back then as his way to get a military credit on his resume, because he was making noises about running for office. That's it. If he received any medals in his month of service, Joe arranged for them, and are pointless, 'everyone has 6" medals. I doubt he even ever showed up to whatever cubicle he was assigned for his no-show job there.
My take is that the Navy Brass were insulted that Biden foisted his druggy kid on them, and arranged to bounce his happy ass out asap.
It goes beyond that, even. Biden claimed for years that the truck driver who hit his wife (killing her and their small daughter) was drunk. This is 100% false. His wife was making a left and pulled out in front of the truck which couldn't stop in time. The accident was tragic but it was her fault. There was no indication of drunkenness, it was not in the police report, it just wasn't true.
The truck driver's life was practically ruined and he died a few years back. Biden only recently stopped saying he was drunk when he was threatened with litigation by the truck driver's family.
I think it was kind of sick to use his dead son to pander for sympathy, then proceed to turn it right into the losers and suckers hoax. What a slimy disgusting human being...
