That is college for you. It's been happening since the late 90s. My advice: educate your kids on critical thinking before sending them to college (like when they are 5) Too many kids in college view anything outside their safe box as bad. Who is to blame? The parents!! Teach your kids to be objective.
When I was in college back in the say 2005-2010 range the RA/RDs conduced a "mandatory" sensitivity seminar for each group of dorm rooms in their respective common areas. In my case the common on area was between the stair/elevator lobby and the the actual dooms on that floor.
I walked off the elevator, and right thru the middle of the session, where the handouts all had a BLM fist on each page to my room, dropped off my things and walked right back out. I was asked where i was going, told them it was none of their business and walked out. As I stepped off the elevator, a group of 5-10 students had also walked out. For the next 2 weeks or so the RA would shove a handout and schedule for other trainings under the doors of the students who walked out every few days. Every time they got ripped up and shoved back under said RAs door. RA never talked to any of us once after that.
