That wouldn't have worked either. A trump appointed special counsel investigating political opponents... Yeah good luck selling the legitimacy of that. It has to be the DoJ, sadly.
I disagree. It would be easy to sell especially after those special counsels arrested and perp walked the obviously guilty. No one with any common sense believed the DOJ would investigate itself with any credibility and we have been proven completely correct.
