When speaking on the Proud Boys.
As mentioned we know the proud boys aren’t fucking Nazis. We know this. Trump isn’t a racist. We all know these are manufactured lies.
I am genuinely curious though. What do you think he meant by “stand down and stand by”?
Could it be in reference to potential violent civil unrest by antifa/ blm/ the left on Election Day/ after Election Day? The left and their elites (not just random nobody’s) have legitimately encouraged violence against conservatives. Hilary herself blatantly said for Joe Biden not to concede. Twitter, Facebook and Mark Zuckerburg have promised to censor and ban any and all claims of a Trump victory. The media has gaslighted and thrown out the “won’t peacefully transition” narrative (also a lie) to the public.
Is it possible Trump also foresees mass violence and social unrest perpetuated by the left? Or am I just looking way too into the statement?
I don't think he wants them to muddy the waters. He is basically saying take a chill pill, he will deal with them, and so far, we have the high ground, and to not jeopardize that.
I can agree with that but what does the “stand by” part mean?
It means he will handle it.
He was just repeating what Chris Wallace told him to say. Watch again. Chris Wallace said will you tell them to stand down and stand by... or something similar... trump was being a smart ass and saying exactly what they told him to say. The whole thing was dumb.
Yes, when you read the transcript he was trying to say what Wallace was asking him to say. But I mean it was in the middle of a back and forth on a debate stage not answering some written down statement where you can perfectly craft a response.
Joking aside, I think he was speaking off the cuff. Wallace demanded he tell them to “stand down.” Trump quickly said “stand down, stand by.” He doesn’t take the issue seriously because it’s a nonserious issue. White supremacist groups are NOT a major threat to the country, whereas Marxist insurrectionists are an existential threat. And the Proud Boys are not at all racist.
The threat is how the term white supremacist is being thrown around as often as any other word. Remember Nick Sandman? All he did was fucking smile...They consider white supremacists and white people on the right as synonymous.
Agreed.
I dont think he meant anything by it...He answered that question really quite poorly in my opinion. Trump doesnt usually put a whole lot of thought into what he says a lot of the time, positives and negatives in doing that. Which is why i think he is honest, it takes time to lie and manipulate, hes just off the cuff immediately, its also why hes able to be taken out of context so often plus obviously scumbag reporting. What he should have done is to say to Wallace, asked for more time and not to be interrupted due to the importance of the question. I absolutely disavow white supremacy, when Wallace mentioned the KKK, should have said those were democrats. After that, say something, with that being said, who gets to decide who is a white supremacist? The media, social media, far leftists? I dont think so, peoples actions speak for themselves, just because someone who is white that does something violent doesnt make them a white supremacist...Even when all they do is smile, they are still labelled a white supremacist...this is ridiculous. He did okay, like a 4.5 with the proud boys and militia, anyway, he really could have done better with that whole line of questioning, he just needs to take a few seconds for himself, and think.
I think Trump is saying, law enforcement/National Guard/military will deal with any civil unrest. He is projecting strength and calm. We don't want citizen militias to break out, not yet at least and hopefully never though it couldbe inevitable. Although, Trump still wants the people to exercise 2nd Amendment and people need to always be prepared and ready should a time come when shit truly hits the fan. He keeps signaling that the left wants to take away peoples guns fast and without warning, so he wants people to be aware and paying close attention. Anything can happen, and he is signaling that we could be in for a bumpy ride (he said it could be months until we have election result, and it could be a disaster), but for now it is under control. We are walking a tightrope in this country right now.
Yeah, I was surprised he didn't have something prepared for this line of attack.
Even his tried and true, "I disavow completely any <xyz>..."
That said, though, Trump knew Wallace wasn't going to play fair because he never turned the question to Biden regarding violence from the left.
So with that in mind, maybe Trump dodged it a bit as a way to say FU to Wallace, that he won't put on a song and dance show for him like a puppet.
Remember, Trump has to appeal to the undecided or middle ground, some of which are extremely sensitive to any notion of "white militia" or similar stuff, even though the PBs are there to protect lives and property. Here at TD.win we already know too much about the real world (we took the red pill and all that) and are really blase about such things, but many others out there still believe in their comfy lives and are easily spooked. These people won't know, or don't want to know, that we are fighting for the survival of civilization itself. Trump cannot go gung-ho, so he had to take some kind of middle ground.
Agree, Trump cannot be too nice, then people will say that he is weak. Considering the unfair bias of Wallace and all the cheating, it was a good performance. I would have strode over and frisked Biden.
Not really man, lots of room for improvement.
