Perhaps an answer along these lines...My parents are independent voters and do not affiliate with any specific political party, but rather, consider each candidate based on their merits. They have raised me to be a critical thinker where my vote is not based specifically on my religion, ethnicity, gender, residence, and or social class as who I am as an individual is a combination of ALL my life experiences and I am open-minded to all possibilities. Thus, the only relationship between their party choice and mine is that I, too, consider my self an independent voter, not to be confused with any affiliation to the Independent Party, and I take offense to this question.

Best answer. I’m sure it would receive an F grade. But it’s so true and an A+ response in my book
