Most history books and textbooks published for schools today are all under subsidiaries of big publishers. The big 3 networks were founded around the same time as the hearings. It wouldn't be difficult to paint this that way all throughout history.
Even today, listening to how Nixon talked about the Communist influence in media. And the inaction on Obama and Bush's treasonous actions, I can't help but wonder if we ever got the real story on Watergate.
