The CIA and the State Department fought tooth and nail to get "evil empire" and "Mr. Gorbachov, tear down this wall" out of those two speeches of Reagan's. They ostensibly feared war/escalation/whatever, but in reality they almost certainly were trying to protect the Soviet Union.

The intel agencies stopped being about protecting the U.S. long long ago, and maybe never really were about it. Castro was essentially a creation of the State Department. We've had a deep state in government since forever, since at least FDR, but probably since Woodrow Wilson.

It's funny how calling evil by its name causes it to recede. Trump calls out critical race theory and the 1619 project and suddenly they're all hiding the worst things in the 1619 project materials. Reagan calls the USSR the evil empire and demands that they tear down the Berlin wall and the resistance to the commies picked up hugely in Eastern Europe, the wall fell, the Iron Curtain fell, and the USSR fell.

Bush only called out islamic extremism, but needed to call out islamic moderates too. No such thing as a moderate muslim. A liberal muslim, maybe, a reform muslim, some day, but no moderate muslims. So the worst of Islam stuck around.

Trump calls out the Palestinians and suddenly peace is breaking out.

ALWAYS CALL OUT EVIL. That's the first rule of fighting evil. Call it out and it is instantly wounded. Call it out and you give its victims hope and energy and desire to fight. Call it out and you get new adherents. Call it out, push back against it, and it will recede till the next time (evil never goes away completely, and always comes back, for it is in our nature).

Lol so the State Department for the last 70 years and the intelligence agencies are all evil. The State Department and intelligence agencies work hand in hand with the Defense Department so that's evil too. So then the largest agencies in the federal government are evil. So basically the federal government is evil. A government which represents the American people. So then the people must be evil. Something that you've done nothing to fight against. So you're evil.
