Not necessarily. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson got it and there was a huge outpouring of affection and support for him, even from those who didn't vote for him.

Yeah Boris used the opportunity to unify the divisions between fighting parties, I think Trump can try the same.

The parties will not unify. One needs to be crushed for peace.

A house divided cannot stand

Boris almost died.

No he didn't. He was moved into ICU for precaution. He was in there fore a few days, and he was out as good as new.

I think it humbled Boris in a way that people recognized, and that humble expression broke people out of their partisan spell bind enough to earnestly wish him well. If Trump does the same tomorrow I think MSM will instantly go soft on him. It could turn around election chances. Here's to hoping for tomorrow.

The MSM reaction will be interesting to watch. I’d like to think they have enough humanity left not to try to spin this but if they do try they risk alienating everyone with even a shred of decency in their heart.

Boris always had a humbling bumble manner about him. Our press will never give Trump a break. 95% against him and want the Dems to win

Some are saying he hasn't been the same since. I haven't heard anything from him since.

And he's gone crazy with lockdowns, too.

preCovid Boris was anti globalist fighter. PostCovid Boris rolls over for the Left

I don't think that will happen with President Trump. The Left in America today has a real vicious streak that I think exceeds the Left in the UK, and this is particularly true when it comes to Trump. The Left/media will show little sympathy. Most will mock & ridicule him for not wearing a mask and for being personally cavalier toward the virus. They will compare that to Biden's very careful attitude & actions and praise Biden. Make no mistake they will spin this against Trump to try and hurt him further with moderate voters and suburban women voters.

Exactly. Trump will be given very different treatment by the Left/media here.

Different personality types. Boris is generally liked but doesnt get much done, at least not lately. He got Brexit done. Fell sick. Now UK is in lockdown and no freedoms. Pity Boris didnt tell his compatriots about HCQ that Trump sent him.

The President is generally liked. Just not by the fake news. Rasmussen recently reported a 53% approval rating.

Look, I am not disagreeing with you. I love Trump since Day 1. But there is a diff between job approval and personal popularity

There's no meaningful difference. The President is generally popular with the American people. Look at polls, rallies, boat parades, yard signs, whatever metric you want. A minority of people hate him, and the fake news peddles the narrative that most Americans hate him.
