Here's the publication: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0960076020302764?via%3Dihub

Here's an article about the publication: https://covid.us.org/2020/09/03/new-study-vitamin-d-reduces-risk-of-icu-admission-97/

Extremely important: this isn't just Vit. D that's studied, but Calcifediol, a precursor compound to a larger amount of Vit. D compared to other supplements.

The main takeaway is that the Calcifediol treatment reduces ICU admissions. This isn't only COVID-19 prevention, but also easier remission.

Thanks for the sources. Aha, so Vitamin D (as we know it) is indeed mainly for prevention, as it usually takes a week to get the "good effects" -- so for treatment, it's HCQ, zinc, zithromicin, and CALCIFEDIOL

The reason for giving this type of vitamin D is that the usual supplement type takes about 7 days to turn into calcifediol, so by giving patients calcifediol itself, you get the good effects without having to wait 7 or so days
