I believe it. I'm sure the "peaceful protests" of the last couple months have driven a lot of people here since you can't speak about it anywhere else.
Well said, and thank you for appreciating the job the admins/mods have done so far. Other than the traffic issues, this site was a very smooth and successful transition away from Reddit TD. Maintaining a site with this kind of traffic and regular attacks by leftists is no easy task.
And of course both will happen at the same time. I bet on a sub on reddit or telegram or discord they already preparing how to attack the site. It will be a combination of everything... spamposts, trolling, DDoS, coplaining to cloudflare... what else could they do?
The WIN has to be prepared for this. Right now if this continues the site will be down every few days.
The mods have discussed the problem many, many times:
There is no way to collect money without doxxing yourself (no, Bitcoin is not anonymous)
This works against us two ways:
Are you going to be the one who pays for the servers and has your life torn upside-down as the public "face" of The_Donald?
Would the site operators trust a webhost provided by an anonymous source?
Thus we have an unfortunate stalemate.
I have no doubt that there might be some Pede here brave enough to be the public face of The_Donald, but then if your reputation wasn't ABSOLUTELY beyond reproach then you will be crucified and your shame can reflect poorly on this community or even Trump. Remember all the drama that went on with some of the original moderators of The_Donald on Reddit.
But even if you had an impeccable reputation and were richer than God... if you aren't already a moderator, how would the current mods know they could trust you?
The problem isn't getting the money so much as at some point it needs to be consolidated. You can't pay for a $2000 server contract with 100 $20 prepaid gift cards.
It's that last step, the person collecting the money and signing the actual contract for service that cannot be anonymous.
I don't honestly know but in conversations with mods I get the sense that basically one of them is funding things out of their own pocket, but that person has been part of the moderator team long enough to be trusted.
A larger issue is that many of the best hosting options would never carry allow TheDonald.Win or Communities.Win content and cancel service, so that severely limits the options as well. No just paying per GB of transfer on Amazon Web Services and so on.
What about Talking to Jim Watkins for hosting? The man already has upgraded servers, Tor Access, & DDOS alternative ready to go for his own is it Wet Yet Hosting Service doesn't he? Strikes me as the sort who would be open to hosting a site the nature of TheDonald. That of course might have the drawback of putting too many eggs in one basket though now that he Launched Tiger Video Network He's a prime target already.
Please let us give some money. This place is my number 1 source of news, and humor. It's frustrating when something big happens and I can't connect. Happy to pay a go-fund-me, a monthly subscription, or whatever is needed.
As someone who has acquired a nickname of 20th Century Luddite, and not without some justification, I would like to know how many of the problems we experience is caused by technical limitations and how many are from financial limitations.
One is more easily solved than the other. As I understand the difference, one is a platform problem (difficult) and the other is a server problem (easily solved by money).
If the developers opened up donations for server upgrades, im sure it would be filled by the end of the day. Maybe even within an hour.
That's fine, any extra can be donated to the Trump campaign.
This
But... would some liberals claim that it's an "in kind" political donation?
How? The devs aren't connected to the Trump campaign.
They would, and they'd be wrong.
Right after they recognize Big Tech and the MSM as permanent "in kind" political donations.
I agree. I had to go to fucking VOAT for information.
100% this. It pisses me off every time there's any announcement, the site bogs down.
They might want to look for alternatives to cloudflare as well, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to axe the site just like they did to 8chan.
That's why I'm expecting tbh. That or they just cut the site to look good to leftists. Either way it's going to bite them in the ass.
Guaranteed, I wouldn't be surprised if we've surpassed the user count of the original the_donald on reddit.
I believe it. I'm sure the "peaceful protests" of the last couple months have driven a lot of people here since you can't speak about it anywhere else.
Here? Why would they do that?
You are a fucking lunatic
You can also hit up The Donald.WIN discord. Invite link is on the desktop version of the site next to Donald Trump's head.
Can the mods set up a monero wallet we can all send money too?
I got some xmr I would move to said wallet if happened. Any crypto but xmr is the privacy king so solid choice

Who is funding these DDoS attacks?
And of course both will happen at the same time. I bet on a sub on reddit or telegram or discord they already preparing how to attack the site. It will be a combination of everything... spamposts, trolling, DDoS, coplaining to cloudflare... what else could they do?

Many thanks!
Very true. I didn't know what was happening till I saw all the shills on 4Chan talking about it.
This. The servers dramatically need to be improved.

So this is where we are stuck.
Is monero not dox-safe?
XMR
Isn’t this why prepaid gift cards exist?

Makes sense. How are they doing it now that’s anonymous?

PLEASE MODS PREPARE WIN FOR THE MASSIVE INFLUX!

No matter what browser I use after 20 minutes of scrolling on this site everything freezes.
Put it in the cloud; expand as needed.

Am I close?
I've got a DevOps background. Is it possible to talk to sysadmins somehow in case I'm able to contribute to improving caching or something?
Bump. Sticky. Bricks. Coats. And NO FUCKING BRAKES.
Was thinking this too this morning when I was trying to find out about the covid situation.
I probably won't have a job past christmas (thanks China) but I'd be happy to put some money towards for server upgrades.
