What if (totally hypothetically) Google, Amazon, Huawei, or Disney were on a particular candidates side?

It's not perfect, but look at the manipulation your phone can pull off live (in snapchat etc)

I don't use snapchat, but video manipulation takes a shit ton of computing power, especially live / real-time bullshit.

And if you've ever been a project manager, you'd know how hard it is to keep things secret when working on a project,let alone getting everyone to do their shit efficiently.

Go try snapchat to see what a tiny device can do in real time. (It's all computed locally). Now imagine what a cell phone could do if the app was optimized for a single user, instead of millions of differently shaped people.

No need to keep things secret if the tech is being used by millions to send each other cute messages. Workers wouldn't even know they are doing something nefarious.
