My great aunt and uncle both got it a couple months ago, they're in their 90's and came out of it just fine. It's the isolation that has been more damaging to the health of the elderly.
Despite the many people who died in nursing homes, probably who had really bad underlying conditions- (if you have never stepped inside a nursing home, then you have no idea of the degree to which they are able to keep incredibly medically frail people alive for years) many others actually survived including a relative of mine in her late 80s- with almost no symptoms. The mental toll of the quarantine and restrictions on visitors and socialization has been far far worse than the virus.
