Remdesivir is a treatment the works very different than HCQ/Zinc and it wasn't as far along in trials when Gohmert was being treated. HCQ/Zinc is more of a preventative that can be used as a treatment for some patients.

They are giving him synthetic COVID antibodies from a company named Regeneron. Basically it's the same stuff your body makes, but you take it immediately after infection before your body is able to make enough of your own antibodies. When you do that, it decreases the severity and duration of the disease because it gives your body a head start against it.
I had not heard that. All I can figure is that Remdesivir isn't contraindicated for early stage coronavirus, it's just cost prohibitive. Not really a concern when you are treating the President.

Perhaps because the President was already taking HCQ on a prophylactic basis and contracted COVID anyway?
remdesivir, like ALL antivirals, is risky: heart and kidney failure, and it is not much better than other treatments reducing the time and death risk.
