Yea, not sure what’s going on there. I can only assume it’s a lack of resources since it’s clearly not a difficult feature to implement.
Sad because I know there are hundreds or thousands of pede devs like me who would love to help out. But it’s probably difficult for them to vet people since one misstep and all the source code is leaked (or worse depending on how security is implemented).
On behalf of all based, non-commie new users I’d like to say that some of us are genuine pedes who are glad to be able to join in the fun from the get go. Also, if new users couldn’t comment for a set period of time, the spammers would still create lots of accounts continuously. They would just wait out the required time until the accounts would be allowed to post, then go ahead and post their spam anyway.
But it's exactly as you say - they would be forced to plan ahead instead of just botting a bunch of accounts whenever news breaks. This is a very common system used on almost all old web boards because it's simple and it works, and wouldn't impact people like yourself.
I would also take it one step further - require some small amount of positive comment karma in order to post. Even just getting 10 points would increase the barrier to entry.
There needs to be some method of making an account 'worth' something, rather than infinitely creatable.
The positive comment karma is a great idea, and one which I think would go a long way to reducing this problem. Hopefully the mods will implement this.
Yeah, I reported a bunch of these creeps in the last 2 days. Some are posting semi-believable headlines so watch out.
Mods should ban links from the redirect site
Or just start IP banning communists
Can't mods / admins just ban links to those urls?

DM them now! Looks like something we need.
And website overloads, use best practices and also protect your product with legalese.
I don't understand why new users have the ability to post.

I have no doubt many are.

Irrelevant here, because half the board upvotes every fucking thing posted. There isn't even a way to downvote threads, just upvote them.
Does the handshake thing mean "new user"? I haven't seen that before
yes
Thanks
I think you’re right. I rarely comment but have been here from the start, and I still have the handshake.
Spez- I guess I reached the threshold before this comment.
Awesome! Thanks, pede!
Do I still have one?
Yep, still there. I think mine must have disappeared when I hit 100.
There should be a post limit for new accounts, like one post per hour. This person made 10 posts in a minute. Hopefully we get an update soon.
Noticed also...low level comments...seems like they are trying to build karma points to look legit...if you look, you will see it
Why isn't -fast.redirecting.com- not blocked here?
Just deport and move on. That's why the deport button exists.
Can mods not ban certain urls from being posted?
Those "breaking" headlines don't even make sense.
BREAKING: BREAKING headlines don't make sense!
Sticky this.
I did my part.
Can we block registration til the election? Seems viable to me. Or prevent posting links and other things til you’re 300+ days verified not a commie.
Oh noes! Kim Young Un is death!
Why are there handshakes next to the names?
Commie handshakes?
