It's a very simple treatment that can make a person more comfortable, especially a 74-yo who is feeling unwell from a disease that affects the lungs (and who just had to walk a fair distance to get to his ride and then inside the hospital.)
I'm talking about oxygen provided via a mask or nasal cannula (the little plastic tubes that fit inside the nostrils,) not a ventilator.
Oxygen good, but the "rebreathing mask/nasal cannula" bad as it increases the viral density going back into the respiratory tract/lungs. So they should set up an oxygen fan and blow it in his general direction. There would be nothing unusual about the medics providing a little supplemental O2 on the way. That would make their patient more comfortable and have him in better shape for the walking they know he's going to do once the helo lands at WR.
It would by no means indicate he was struggling to breathe. We saw him walking and that was clearly not the case.
