It's more than just "politicians weren't having it." The idea was wargamed and we couldn't win. The war we fought was not the war the Soviets fought. We didn't have the means to win in the open terrain of the east. The logistics problem of the USSR being BIG has never been solved. And our populace was war weary.

At that time, the soviets were weak and Patton noticed what the soviets did to the eastern Germans. Patton was disappointed that the USA destroyed Germany.he considered the Germans the finest people in Europe and when he discovered the lies about the war,he died a mysterious death.

Lots of Soviets had died. They had more. Their war production was fine, despite all the destruction. We couldn't take out their tanks and rockets, not without nukes.

What lies do you refer to?

"Coerced into the war?" Pearl harbor may have had something to do with that. How many days later did Germany and Italy declare war on the US? Nazis blowing up our shipping was kinda coercive too.

That makes sense. Learn from the mistakes of Hitler and Napoleon.
