FORMOSA #1

Trivia: Formosa means "beautiful", and the Taiwanese call the USA 美國 mei kuo meaning "beautiful country".

What a great example of mutual respect and admiration!

(Further trivia: "Formosa" came from, I think, Portuguese explorers who thought the island was beautiful. The Taiwanese name for America is just phonetic; the mei in mei kuo is the "me" in "America" and kuo means "country".)
