He is tough as nails. He reminds of my grand dad, man was steel, ran away from home at 13, became pilot, aircraft engineer, at 74 he would swim for an hour daily, was learning programming for fun, was still teaching flight engineers, could make any engine work.

Tough times make strong men, strong men make good times, good times make weak men. Not just America whole of the world is lucky he decided to take this responsibility, too many weak men after this long run of good times. What he did in ME is a miracle

I'm always curious about stories like these. Any idea why he ran away from home? I try to think about what I was doing at that age and am pretty sure there is no way I would have survived, haha.

His dad used to beat him. But other thing was that he had this unreasonable optimism about him into the old age, like everything will be fine no matter what.

This was in USSR btw, he ended up stoving on a train sneaked off to Central Asia somewhere in Kazakhstan I think.

Parent did find him eventually but by then he had work building the railroad there. He grew up early so he claimed he was 16 and by then(year and a half later) was in charge of a work gang

Wow! That is quite the story. He sounds like quite the interesting individual. Thanks for sharing his story.

Haha don't think I am but I've also met people who had no idea how old he is

Lmao there’s no way. He has no idea what this site is. And yes! Like you I’m still shocked cause my dad is the same age (and still kicking ass as well, but grey hair galore and tires easy!)

He looks younger after one term in the white house! That was Rush's remark. In contrast, the previous three presidents aged greatly after 8 years. Their hair all turned gray and they got wrinkles all over the face.
