Not really a great answer. The campaign’s personnel who review the debate venues - including the chosen moderator - I feel those campaign employees are either compromised or inept. Why else allow this?
As far as the debate organizers, how come we never hear who “they” are that appoints the fucking moderator? Feels like it is some invisible cloud being in the sky that does it, because I sure as fuck have not heard who gets this privilege.
And since the campaign people never challenged this choice, I guess they also have no idea who “they” are and cannot find them or even see them to register a complaint or demand a change.

You're assuming that Americans like authoritarianism. For many Democrats, they still really believe that they are the party of "tolerance" and the "right side of history".
All they've been seeing is crazy shit from their party. The more they see their party be cruel, authoritarian, unjust, and tyrannical, the more it breaks the conditioning that they're the "good guys".
When they hear Trump ask perfectly valid questions they they would like the answers to, and see Biden call Trump names like a child, and totally deny reality, it breaks the conditioning.
When they see the moderators that Trump has been calling fake news and biased team up with the Democrat candidate to attack Trump, it breaks the conditioning.
All these debates are about is breaking the conditioning of the masses.
America likes an underdog. They see Trump being attacked from all sides and they don't have TDS, they will take his side and defend him. They will listen to what he's saying. Most Democrats can't stand their party already and are just looking for a reason.
Agree, Biden needs the debate more than Trump to convince undecided to vote for him. Trump doesn't need the debate as people already had a feel of what he can do. Yet GOP are accepting all the debates to be democrat hosts. Why?
