Business just make times specific for elderly and people with p.e.conditions. Better than mixing us all together in a grocery store anyways. And businesses stay open.

You’d think people taking tax payer money could brainstorm some ideas. Fucking hell on the beach but off the water ... off the beach but water is fine fucktards

Heck just provide home delivery. Gov can pay for. Save money over the economic shutdown and make new jobs.

I think he meant the government would cover delivery for high risk people. Mostly seniors. Not lazy school teachers who want a 6 month paid vacation.

incentives problems

For example, paying shit tons of federal tax money for every hospital that has a death certificate say "Covid"

Amazing how many overdoses and car accidents were caused by the Coof!

-5
LibertyPrimeWasRight -5 points ago +2 / -7

Perhaps the government could pay for delivery only for those on Social Security? Because those are the people most likely to need to quarantine, and also are often living on (fairly low) fixed incomes.

Just two or three weeks, and herd immunity is done, you know. I am tired of this "care for elderly" argument.

5
FreeNow 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think that is the thing, isolate the vulnerable, let it spread for herd immunity and get back to normal in a few weeks.

3

My question is what will happen to all of the changes after the pandemic is "resolved," will the population expect take-out liquor sales and curb side pickup services to continue, or will local regulations clamp down again on liquor sales, parking, etc?

2
CEO_of_Muslims 2 points ago +2 / -0

Any regulation that could be safely done away with for the sake of this virus can be safely done away with permanently.

Instead of a $3 trillion stimulus, fund Social Security $500 Billion-$Trillion, expand to known affected comorbidities for a year, encourage elderly to wear masks in public and use home delivery services. Everyone else goes back to real life. Open the economy back up.

We knew this disease almost exclusively affected the elderly and comorbidities in the worst way back in March.

Recent numbers from the CDC agree. (6% of deaths from covid-ONLY, average age 85, avg comorbidites 2.6)

Every fucking country has it's own set of retarded rules like they rolled dice and said let's go with this.

Ex. In France they just passed a law that a restaurant/pub etc can serve food until midnight but can't serve alcohol after 10 pm. Like how the fuck does that make any sense what so ever and who is the retard who came up with that and how?

Booze make up 70% of their revenue and 70% their alcohol sales are after 10 pm. You could tell the civil servant cocksuckers from all over the world never held a real job and don't know what it is to run a business the way they're trying to kill them with their stupid bullshit.

3
NvJohansson 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree, but I wasn't pointing out the fact that they should be harmonized, I was mostly pointing out that everyone was pulling different protocols out of their butts with no specific explanation, reason or logic as of why they're doing it. In that specific example , I'm trying to figure out why you can eat until midnight but you can't drink after 10 in the same pub.

I'll have a steak and a beer, sorry sir you can have the steak but you'll have to have a soda with it. What the hell does that have to do with covid? And how does a civil servant come up with that and have his superiors agree with it to pass that law? It's mind-boggling.

2
whippeat 2 points ago +2 / -0

In some countries, the argument was that alcohol ends up filling hospital emergency departments and wards, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. And they’re trying to keep hospitals empty for Covid patients.

That said, they should still fuck off with the stupid restrictions. If you’re getting wasted and clogging up the ER, you should get hit with a massive bill for it.

2
NvJohansson 2 points ago +2 / -0

That makes sense but in a country like France where you can buy liquor anywhere, in a convenience store or a supermarket or at any small private winer or distiller along the road, if somebody wants to get wasted they'll get wasted regardless. Why punish established business' profits? It looks like they're going out of their way to impoverished the first world any way they can. I've never been a conspiracy theorist but I'm starting to believe this whole globalist plan.

Go read the Maricopa county mask mandate... Most people have not.

Look at the study they cite, one single study.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7191274/

"Medical masks were not effective, and cloth masks even less effective" Medical masks being N95, the only thing they found to work was respirators which you are not allowed to use per the mandate.

" study suggests that community mask use by well people could be beneficial"

COULD BE COULD BE, no science to back this up.

Meanwhile in the past there are dozens of studies done on healthcare workers trained and in a controlled study on surgical vs N95 masks.

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2749214

"there was no significant difference in the incidence of laboratory-confirmed influenza"

Oh shit, they still got the flu...

Any health professional who claims the cloth masks work, just ask them one question. Would you wear that cloth mask in treating someone with TB? TB is a bacteria that is 1-4 microns and yes an N95 mask works since it filters .3 microns or larger, but a virus is far smaller than any bacteria and thus wont wont be filtered even with the N95 masks. .06 - .14 is the size of covid-19 for reference. But wait how does the respirator work it uses the same N95 filter? It doesn't get moist so it works by using electrostatic attraction which can help trap the virus.

I will bet you more people end up with staph infections including MRSA, and having more issues with this than they would with Covid.

9
SkeletorsTeeth 9 points ago +9 / -0

The amount of my fellow Healthcare professionals pushing masks is sickening

9
KristiNoemFaceFuck 9 points ago +9 / -0

It's liberal virtue signaling in mask form. At best it does nothing, at worst it makes people more sick (having a moist bacteria laden covering over your mouth and nose all day). And it's a way they can control your behavior so you know liberals will jump on that.

3
whippeat 3 points ago +3 / -0

The thing about control is so true.

They love FORCING you to do something. Restricting where you go and who you go with. Forcing uniforms. This has been a wet dream for them.

The senior hour was usually really early. Places eventually moved it to 9-10 am, but it was more like 7 am before. Sometimes the senior hour was more crowded than regular time since people were trying to get hoarded items placed on shelves before the store opened. I don't know anyone who used the senior hour, but curbside is still popular.

3

Sweden's coronavirus is over. They kept the country open the entire time, simply limited large venues to like 50 people max, and told everyone to do some intelligent distancing to avoid spreading so much. Beyond that, every business and everything stayed open. Lots of people got infected, didn't even have symptoms, and developed immunity, and their immunity prevented further spread. Voila. The virus fizzled out. Exactly as Elon said we should have done too.

You would think that parties capable of such a James Bond style plot would actually have it together and wouldn't running around like crazy and putting useless candidates in office.

I mean, if they're that powerful, why not just use their orbital teleporter to beam strontium directly into Trump's bloodstream? Or mind control rays to subvert the populace? Or replace all top level military personnel with clones?

Why settle for a weak disease that is unlikely to have the desired final result, and almost didn't have the desired initial result, either?

I'm just not sure that this is as well oiled a machine as you might think.

It'll make this lockdown seem like light restrictions in comparison.

So... why go to China, and not the twelve clones of Doctor Mengele they have in their underwater base?

Seriously, if they engineered this, why go with such an awful plan?

1
whippeat 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don’t think they designed it or released it on purpose.

But the virus is almost certainly one that they were studying in the lab. It likely infected a lab worker, who then gave it to others. This lab escape phenomenon has happened many times in the past. China realized what had happened, and made sure to share it with the rest of us.

A virus doesn’t have to be deadly to be effective. This one wiped 20% off the GDP of Europe, more than 10% off the US. That’s pretty effective from China’s POV. It has weakened and distracted us. In the meantime, China has tightened the grip on Hong Kong, started imprisoning 500,000+ Tibetans, and increased aggression against Taiwan. All while we are fussing on with problems at home.

In fact, deadly viruses tend to burn themselves out. If they kill the host, they tend not to spread well. And if you have severe symptoms, you tend not to infect others (because you stay home, hospital etc). Covid, with asymptomatic spreaders and mild symptoms is pretty optimal IMO.

China is using it now to internally purge rivals in the CCP and any regions that threaten the interests of Xi-aligned party members.

Then again, political murder machines quickly turn into a business unto themselves and the murderers don't stop looking at others lives like a cash register once the "authorized" murders are all taken care of. It is very much a slippery slope.

My best moral and practical take on it is that there are other means that are being blocked from dominating our imaginations because we are emotionally in a "war" mindset and unable to see another way to the same goal without so much rending of limbs.

This is hindsight again though.

Back in Feb-March we were looking at a virus which was killing 1-5%. That’s pretty significant.

We could have been facing totally overwhelmed hospitals, totally collapsing everything. Food shortages. Riots. Total meltdown.

I agree we totally over reacted, and we should have reversed course ages ago. Continuation of lockdowns in October is fucking retarded. But it’s totally understandable why we reacted so strongly 6 months ago. It’s not a feminine or pussy response.

The only thing we don’t know right now is any long term effects. Maybe heart and lung damage. Maybe other consequences (think about Varicella virus which causes shingles and hides out in the body for decades). So I totally agree with Musk - give people the freedom to choose, based on their own risk tolerance. If you want to shelter at home and you are able to do it, no problem. But we shouldn’t be stopping people getting back to work, meeting friends etc.

I'm actually pretty sure I got it, but I couldn't get tested because my state does contact tracing. Which meant that my parents, who are impoverished and only had one child, would have been locked in their homes without assistance for 2 weeks because I had briefly visited them a week before I even got it. (It was so serious I died, btw. Press F.)

... Talk about a self-defeating policy: I'm an actual germaphobe, and they lost my assistance after the first two weeks. HOW DO YOU LOSE THE GERMAPHOBE?! Idiots!

Part of me hopes health authorities learn something from this whole stupid adventure just in case there is a real pandemic, but part of me thinks they are in fact the biggest totalitarian asshats in this country and that I'm quite glad that they'll probably never figure out what they did wrong.

4

lerm4comptroller 2 points ago +2 / -0

No argument here. Frankly, as I said, I'm a germaphobe, so I'm the one group in the country that really did have any trust in those dicks at some point, and they've lost even me. That says a lot about how bad it's become.

lerm4comptroller 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's the really hilarious part to me: I've been really careful around my parents this whole time, because they both are immunocomprimised and elderly, and I basically inherited my germophobia from my mom. This is one of the things I fear for the youth right now: this is a really easy irrational fear to impress on a child.

So they would have been locked down because I stood in their driveway for a few minutes.

I still won't wear a mask around them though. Until they let surgeons operate wearing those masks with a flu, it seems to me that they're just spit guards that are mainly to prevent particulates from falling into a patient and have no place in the general public.

(Social distancing is all that works for viruses. We used to know this. That's why I've always kept my distance from strangers: this isn't even new information. The masks literally have no justification whatsoever scientifically, according to every study done for the past 100 years.)

I'm pretty sure that's what Elon meant. People who are scared/at risk should quarantine themselves.

3
NYC_4_Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

Correct. We can offer them alternatives like “Hey, there is an elderly hour where the store is 50% capacity. You’re free to use it if you like.” But we can’t force them to use it.

Also of note: enough with the “you have a fever so you have COVID. You’re not welcome here.” Fever can mean tons of things. It isn’t exclusive to COVID. A thermometer isn’t a test.

Its sucks to say it, but we need people like this to say something so fucking obvious. We can tell our friends and family all we want, but as soon as the dude who made his money creating paypall says it, its got credibility.

Its dumb, but its the truth. Good for Elon being a voice of reason during all of this

He isn't wrong. Unfortunately, every toddler, elementary school child, middle schooler, high schooler, and college kid has now been educated in compliance to the new flavor of insane, counter-productive, anti-American government orders.

Post 9-11 we did the same thing.

This shit is sticking around for a looooooong time. We need to fight HARD to eliminate stupidity like these lockdowns and shoe removal at airports.

New York City has about 30% immunity - and the Mayor/Gov are still locking things down for the “second wave.”

First of all, 30% immunity is very good - it means 1 in 3 people the virus encounters cannot spread it. Every third person stops the virus cold.

Secondly, it isn’t proper to call it a “second wave.” It’s a new season. The season was first reported/monitored in February and it effectively ended in June. Any resurgence would be a new season, likely to start in November and end in April/May.

We have flu seasons every year. This years flu isn’t a “second wave” of last year’s flu.

I agree 100%

I have wondered if it would be worthwhile to have "COVID parties" akin to measles parties form our past, to allow young people to get it, get the sniffles, and move on - to save Grandma

Grandma should remain protected in her home

We are just prolonging reaching herd immunity now, and to pin hopes on a vaccine is pie in the sky. We are still waiting for the SARS1 vaccine....

It’s clear that there were two theories for this:

  1. create easy to follow protocols (distancing/hand washing) and try to lessen the impact of the wave.

  2. Shut everything down and try to stop everyone from getting sick.

The first theory is the only practical one. It accepts the fact that when a virus is in your area, it will hit you. You may be able to increase hygiene and lessen its reach.

The second theory is bonkers. You’re never going to stop everyone from getting sick.

Yup! And the longer no one is immune to it, the more opportunities those at risk face at getting the virus. All the lockdown does is increase the risk for everyone. Total BS!

3
Red_Turtle 3 points ago +3 / -0

The funny part is we did sort of have that in the news a while back and it got trashed on as "irresponsible." The college "covid parties" where students would pay a door charge, go in to the party and hang with one person who had it, and the first person to test positive from the party won all the door money.

2
CampinAndBam 2 points ago +2 / -0

If I was in college, I’d do this. Get it over with.

1
Chuj 1 point ago +1 / -0

The only problem is this nebulous thought as to permanent damage to the lungs/other organs. Is it overblown? Probably. I suspect it is alarmism. Could the standard flu also cause long lasting damage? Perhaps in exceedingly rare cases, and likely mixed up with a pre-existing issue, flu or COVID19 can cause "permanent changes" (likely newly recognized old issue, but the individual is certain it came from the virus...)

2
Red_Turtle 2 points ago +2 / -0

Honestly, nobody goes through life unscathed. All illnesses have some risk or other and some have risk of more severe lasting effects. The people ranting about how suddenly they're worried about THIS illness and lasting effects are just the new germophobes created by government control. If they're that afraid, let them stay home and get phased out of society. Other people know life comes with risks and we keep going. Personal choice still applies here. If people want to take the "risk" of getting some lung scarring (or discovering they had it all along, but misatributing it to covid like you said), then they should be able to.

Not gonna lie, there was about one week where I was nervous of eating fast food thru the drive through. I would be watching the employees hands take my card, push buttons on the register, and fondle my food and drink.

I was waiting for the homeless to start dying in droves. When that never happened I started doubting. Then came HQC censorship, nursing home deaths, inflated numbers, rioting/looting, and all the rest. At that point I realized we have all been had.

Hoax doesn't even begin to describe it. Whole thing is a one massive psyop.

Elon musk is a grifter trying to keep his scam fraud company alive. He's an opportunist with no principles. He's not moving his factory to Texas. He's moving it to China where the majority of his cars will be made. The US factory's are gimmicks made for headlines and tax incentives.

7

It's STILL the right thing to do. At this stage we know enough to let people make the choice - if they are afraid or particularly at risk of the virus, then they can voluntarily quarentine and wear masks. Everyone else, get back to work !

4
DebbieinDallas 4 points ago +4 / -0

This whole lockdown thing was unconstitutional and against amendment 14th. Government had no right to deprive people of their livelihoods without due process. We never shut down the economy for any other epidemic. Trump was tricked by false models and predictions. Remember back in Sept when he said he had to lay low for a while because he made a bunch of big important people mad when he lowered the drug prices? And now, they somehow found a way to infect him and a bunch of other Republicans too, but no Democrats. Looks fishy.

3
bobobob 3 points ago +3 / -0

The UN and WEF are now pushing ideas of a "great reset" and to "build back better" (also Joe's campaign slogan) to promote socialism and green new deals across the globe. You have to wonder if these lockdowns were designed to facilitate those changes.

2
FUCK_DemonRATS 2 points ago +2 / -0

100% correct. We're all adults and we all know the risks. Those who are scared of Covid can stay home forever, those that are not scared should be allowed to go about their daily lives. Lock downs and forcefully shutting down businesses should never be allowed again

2
littlebridges 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well, at least after the first 2 weeks when the"at risk" population was more clearly identified

2
formerlythetim 2 points ago +2 / -0

Makes perfect sense. That way we function relatively normal much like Iceland. Anyone 70+ would wear a mask, use ample amounts of sanitizer, Isopropyl Alcohol, get sun, fresh air(while distancing), stay clean while the REST OF US live our lives! If we get it, we get it, no big deal! Good Lord
