I honestly will never buy another Windows anything ever again. Don't need it for work, don't need it for non-work. Ubuntu is actually pretty awesome, and on a fairly powerful laptop all you really need for most people.
If you're a gamer, you're pretty much still stuck in the Windows ecosystem. No way around it, SteamOS and the Vulkan API(DirectX competitor) are ever slowly taking a bite out of it though, vulkan is the biggie. Since the driver subsystem for it easily translates to all OS's out there, and has a tiny overhead compared to the massive overhead of DirectX.
It's good hobby, though I've known some people who get burnt out on it. They spend all day working on a computer, and think it'll translate into relaxation when off work. Instead they start working at home, when they shouldn't and it's all downhill from there.
In general, I've found that if there's a app on Windows. Someone has made a FOSS replacement, sometimes not as good. Sometimes the UI sucks. But it's out there. The big thing for most people is that they're heavily used to good UI's, smooth order transition for it too. In the FOSS ecosystem, there's few UI/UX designers that do stuff for free, unless they're trying to cut their teeth to get hired on somewhere.
I first got into computers when CLI was the norm, so pretty doesn't mean much. It helps too that 90% of what I do day in and out is via CLI, though I'm a dying breed.
Google doesn't make phones. Even the OS that runs behind it can be replaced with KaiOS or SIRIN. Buy a cheap $60 smart phone, slap your own OS on it and enjoy.

Most of my non-work shirts and hats support various professional and collegiate team sports. It'll take a while to fully rewardrobe but worth the effort. Even if sports was still a good distraction, this isn't the time to be distracted.

It was pretty good even a decade ago, my grandmother switched from WinXP to it back in 2008/2009 and was able to understand it all in about a week.
