Head shot with a .22 work just fine. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!

Bersa’s have been around a long time.

They work. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

Buy lots of ammo and Long-Term Storage food.

If you can add to the arsenal, fine, get a shotgun.

If you want a rifle, stick to common current military calibers. 5.56 & 7.62.

And practice some more. . .

I ran a police agency evidence vault for several years, so I have handled more and varied firearms (although not shot them all) than many alleged/self-professed “experts”, and was also a firearms instructor in ya agency.

Nerds firearms always seemed to be well-constructed and had nice fit and finish, from the various examples I have seen. I had to opportunity to shoot one once, a long time ago, and it functioned well, with out any problems that I can recall.

Some people are just gun snobs.

The largest sizes of 12 gauge buckshot (00, 0 shot) are pricey and in short supply, especially in 2.75" length shells. 20 gauge is better. Bird shot is everywhere, and slugs are pretty easy to find too for both 12 and 20. I personally would try to hold off on a Maverick and get a 500 or, even better, 590, they'll last you absolutely forever, but 12 gauge pump shotguns in general are just about as hard to find as any firearm made right now

Fun fact: you said: One day I'd like a higher powered "battle rifle" such as an AR-15 in those calibers you mentioned.

An AR-15 is a 5.56 and/or .223 (5.56 will shoot 223 but not all 223 will shoot 5.56.

An AR 10 is 7.62 and/or 308 (in this caliber the 308 will shoot both but the 7.62 NATO rifle isn’t generally up for 308)

As you wander off into the world of gun enthusiasts the AR10/AR15 is shorthand for bang size

I went shooting with some guys from work a couple years ago and they made a big deal out of me not knowing the distinction between AR 15 & 10. Then they proceeded to miss everything they shot at and I’m a pretty good shot so my go to joke was that where I come from we’re more concerned with how to shoot it than what to call it. That shut em up but I will always remember the distinction and they still can’t shoot worth a damn

Get a stripped AR lower. Even now, they can be found for $65 ish. If stuff starts to go really sideways you can have the rest of the parts mailed to you overnight... if need be.

Putting one together is easily manageable. If you can field strip and clean the Bersa, than you should have no problem.

On the other hand, some people think they are shitty apparently

Meh, I've heard the same thing about Chevy's from Ford people ;)

When you say 7.62 do you mean 7.62x51 aka .308 which is more common in the states or 7.62x39 which is more common in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa

.308.

Unless you are in an area where 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R are the common available rounds?

That’s what I figured. I was just making sure lol
