Right now is a truly golden age of modern pistol design. Even at the lower tier of pricing the manufacturing methods and capabilities are mindblowing compared to even a decade ago. In 2008 I remember a LGS having a Taurus revolver on display that had blown apart the cylinder in a catastrophic failure as a warning to not cheap out. Now days, that same company manufactures the TX-22, perhaps the best semi auto .22 pistol available.
