spezisacuckold 4 points ago +5 / -1

Even leftists in NYC are getting fed up by De Blasio’s horseshit.

I mean yeah nowhere near enough leftists are getting fed up, but there is an unprecedented amount that are waking up to the endless infringement on their normal lives. I doubt it will change anything this election in NYC, but there’s a greater chance now than there’s ever been.

Its time for us to go to war about this. Loudly protest without masks, walking into stores without masks, and just smile while doing it.

Been out here on the front lines for months, I welcome more recruits! I have yet to see another maskless person inside of a store :(

the cure turns out to be a combination of aspartame and big mac sauce working in tandem.

The Founders of America are turning in their graves so much we could harness the rotational energy to power Las Vegas.

He is also healthier and has more energy than 99.99999% of 70 year olds.

The left will say it's because he had access to the best healthcare and medicine in the world so let's all be socialist retards.

Not boozing and smoking your whole life helps.

Do you think you deserve the same level of care as the duly elected leader of America?

I blame the public school teachers.

5
p8riot 5 points ago +5 / -0

That's not what he's saying. Who deserves what is a strawman.

He's saying just because the most powerful man on Earth survived a virus, that doesn't say very much on a macro scale. Trump has a team of doctors watching over him 24/7, and has the most advanced medicine on the planet at his disposal.

Staatssicherheit 1 point ago +2 / -1

He is saying that everyone deserves the same level of care as the President of the United States. Everyone deserves a team of doctors watching over them 24/7.

This is the feelgoodism of false equality. This is why Marxism never dies.

2
p8riot 2 points ago +2 / -0

No, again, that's not the point being made. The point is that you can't extrapolate Trump's speedy recovery to everyone else, and say "SEE! The virus is a joke" -- (even if it is) -- because his level of care is orders of magnitude greater than everyone else's.

and has the most advanced medicine on the planet at his disposal.

You mean hydrowhatsitsname, or you're talking about some secret cure only he has?

2
p8riot 2 points ago +2 / -0

He was administered an early dose of therapeutics that are not available to anyone

1
ArdentGrasshopper 1 point ago +2 / -1

Vaccines are supposed to work before you get infected and the goal is to prevent you from being infected, so this makes no sense.

3
p8riot 3 points ago +3 / -0

Therapeutics, not vaccine. I misspoke. Edited.

Before the president left the White House, he received a single dose of Regeneron's polyclonal antibody cocktail, an experimental drug that has shown promise in initial trials in improving symptoms and reducing virus levels in the body. The drug is currently being evaluated but has not received Food and Drug Administration approval.

ArdentGrasshopper 1 point ago +2 / -1

Perfect. By Trump getting it and recovering very fast, it simply means there exists at least one workable cure and it's just a matter of getting the stuff out to be available to the people. Doesn't this weight in hugely against shut downs?

Not in a system with finite resources.

You're absolutely right but you're asking him to think about it :)

Cdogger 2 points ago +3 / -1

Thats ridiculous. If you have a "right" to health care who is obligated to provide that care?

2
Staatssicherheit 2 points ago +3 / -1

Because a "right to healthcare" is a positive right that places a burden on others to give you that "right".

2
ArdentGrasshopper 2 points ago +3 / -1

isn't it a basic human right to get healthcare?

A right to get? You've confused the words, the one you want is entitlement.

Healthcare isn't like oxygen, where you get to breath as much as you want. It has a cost. And a big one too. So if you think you have some magic right that mandates others to pay it for you, then should it not also this stand true for everything else as well? How about food? How about housing? How about sex? How about clothes? How about everything?

Well, if you're thinking "that doesn't sound wrong", congratulations, today you've realized you're a commie.

drsowells1fan 1 point ago +2 / -1

Show me where the right to health care appears in the Constitution. If I have this "right" does that mean I can force an MD to treat me? For free? Since it's my God given "right"? Health care is a commodity that one accesses and pays for like any other. I guess you'll tell me next that somewhere in the Consitition is a right to at least a 2 bedroom apartment.

The Constitution is made up of negative rights for a reason. "Giving" requires taking from another. "Not taking" requires only inaction.

So you're saying that there's a secret cure? Cause the whole thing with COVID was "no cure, shut it all down". If there's not, then what does the "level of care" you speak of amount to? The linen in the bed?

the experimental drugs

Isn't it the government who prevents regular people from getting access to said drugs and makes it a very long and costly process for drug companies to get new stuff out fast, in order to protect you?

the fact that he has a doctor and nurses watching him and only him 24/7, a private room with nobody else in it

Which are largely irrelevant when you're infected with covid. Fun and welcome, but irrelevant to how the disease progresses.

and on top of that, he does not have to pay for any of this. it is all paid for by us, the taxpayers

Like, Trump can't afford it? If he can't maybe he take take a chunk from that 400k of his salary that gives away every year.
