Eh. As a psych major, there's some strong conclusions you can come to from correlations, and other important and interesting things we have learned from psych (like cognitions and learning) The practice does have benefits and can improve people's mental health.
I don't think we would really need it if we just went back to stronger conservative lifestyles though. As people say, leftism is a disease, and part of me is convinced psychology was founded to figure out how to cure it, without having to admit how stupid they are.
I'd say our current trajectory started with prescribing meth to kids for ADHD then kept going for depression with things that literally adjust the chemical balances in your brain to now puberty blockers for kids.
We badly need more conservatives in the psychiatry field, so that we stop listening to activist groups and start listening to scientific research regarding whether we shoot our pre-teen children up with puberty blocking hormones.
Tell that to the millions of people with schiziphrenia and bipolar disorder who can live and function thanks to psychiatry. Is it perfect? No, of course not. But, it is not pseudoscience.
