Yesss!!! I'm a Florida latino, but I'm not from Cuba.

Dude, you should hear the stories of how my Cuban friends got to America. The process in and of itself is already self selecting for people with insane drives to win and make it in life.

First, you have to figure out which beach is less patrolled by the Cuban military, and know what the schedule will be. If you get caught even surveying this, you go to jail.

Then you have to somehow, with no money, get shit to make an inflatable raft. Because, of course, nobody's gonna sell you a raft. If you get caught building a raft, you go to jail.

Then you have to venture out in the middle of the fucking night and paddle north. It takes many days of paddling, and if you don't die of starvation, dehydration, or exposure, the sharks are there to make it even more interesting.

After all that, even if you get spotted by the US Coast Guard, you literally have to make it to land on your own.

This whole thing is a big "how bad do you want freedom?" test, and only the people who really have freedom in their hearts make it.

My friend Pepe, a grown ass man, told me he broke down in tears when he was face to face with a Coast Guard officer and heard the words "it's over now, welcome to America, you're free now, it's over".
