Pa, public HS, 12,000+ student body in the district. Believe me, you're not wrong.. I've seen it...the union here (which I left) literally holds meetings to tell you to vote for these bad politicians bc they'll fund public ed and keep your pension. This is my first year registered so I'll get to vote against these people. Problem is, the entire public system is fucked. Badly. The entire thing needs a haul. Unions promote bad teaching, not just what you mentioned... They allow teachers to be bad at their jobs and not be held accountable. I work my ass off for these kids (especially now, online)... And I see no difference than the teacher next to me that does nothing. If you have tenure in my district... You (basically) can't be fired. Period. The stories I have of what some teachers have done/do and nothing happens is ridiculous.
