The updated rules reflect previous comments by the Dungeons & Dragons team that promised better representation and a movement towards giving the player characters individualism as opposed to forcing them to fit within cultural stereotypes within the game's lore.

Seriously, ever since 4.0 came out, and they desecrated Gary's Legacy, D&D has been trying to get woker and woker every year. I have literally never been able to show my wife a fun game with good players because everyone who plays now is the epitome of "Woke Freak", and she HATES being exposed to these insufferable people. (I have a bit more tolerance, but not anymore)
They run boring, simple characters, and due to the dumbed down rule sets of each subsequent edition, struggle to understand WHY certain things are done, it's all been rolled into one check.
The biggest issue is almost every character is a self insert.
"Oh I'm running a half orc rouge with blue hair, who fled her orc village because she didn't want to go to conform to orc gender norms, and is currently seeking a wizard so he can cast a spell on her and turn her into another gender"
Or
"I'm running a woman fighter who murdered her abusive father and is on a quest to become elected as a politician".
If you know anything about DnD you know how backwards it is. And the self insert is SUPER HORRIBLE because you have an emotionally unstable SJW who just had the character she spent 4 weeks playing as get killed by a pair of Pants of Devouring, and she's about to take it personally.
I used to think the silent players who just built High-AC monk builds and meme-lord druids were bad, but at least there are moments of fun playing with characters like that.
My DM is a yuge bleeding heart lib, but I guarantee this will piss him off. He's been playing non-stop for over 25 years and this just obliterates decades of lore. Kobolds with 18 strength? fuck me.
Why can't these people just role play with within the rules? I'm playing a gnome wiz with really high intelligence, but to make it fun I play him with a complete lack of common sense. Let's just say I tend to get our party into interesting situations.
Well, Im the DM and Im voiding those rule changes. Half the fun of monstorous race PC's is hamming up the make believe stereotypes.
