I was at this, folks were driving roughly the speed limit and proper following distance between cars. So at 50 MPH with 5 car lengths between, and an average of 25' per car - that's 150 feet of highway per car at speed. Over 85 miles that's only 2,992 cars to be effectively "full."
The photos are actually from the scene of an accident which caused the traffic jam. The accident was unrelated to the Trump parade and actually occurred right before it started. A man had a stroke and crashed. There were injuries but I believe everyone was okay in the end.
If you divide up the 85 miles, it breaks down to 22.5 - 28 feet per car. That's packing them really tightly with less than 1 car length between them.
Doesn't sound like these cars are practicing proper social distancing... /s
Is that with cars going both directions?
I like how you think.
