Why would you respect the police?
The police are not there to help you, they are not there to (Directly) keep you safe.
They are there to enforce government power.
Respect is earned not given, especially not to a tin badge.

Yeah about to say this. I absolutely support law enforcement, like POTUS does. However there are some shitty, weak, backbone-less cops out there that don't stand with the people. They listen to orders from Democratic Mayors, while these are the same people that are shitting on them.

I wish we had more brave cops that stand up to these bullshit politicians.

Several Chicago cops have done just this even though the dwarf mayor despises them.

You have been given all the evidence you need after 4 months of riots as to what happens without the police.

Every major city where cops were forced to stand down... turned into lawless violent shitholes resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage and multiple people murdered.

This childish "fuck the police" mentality is retarded.

Go move to a cucked city where the cops have been stripped of their powers and tell us how it goes for you.

Yeah we all hate getting speeding tickets... here's a secret... most cops hate having to hand them out but it's part of their job.

There are some shitty cops, and there are some shitty laws they enforce, but that doesn't mean we should disrespect the 99% of good cops willing to do the other 99% of the job that you take for granted. If you don't like the cops taking your pot, stop blazing blunts while you speed. Be smarter and you'll probably never have an issue.

Another tip, get licensed for concealed carry. Telling a cop as soon as he/she gets to your door "hey i'm a CCW holder and my gun is in/on _____ , what do you want me to do?". I can't tell you the number of times that has turned a speeding ticket into a warning by the time i got done talking about guns for 10 minutes.

You'd think it would make the situation worse but it quickly de-escalates as soon as they see your dome light on at night, your hands on the wheel, and you greet them with "what can i do to make this interaction safe for you and me".

Treat them like shit, disrespect them, and they aren't going to do you any favors. Treat them like human beings and don't be a piece of shit and your police interactions will dramatically improve.

And no i'm not a cop, and no i'm not white.

So I hold all humans with a certain level of respect, those who act honorably I have greater respect for, and those who act dishonorably, I lose respect for. For the police force, they earned respect by being willing to make sacrifices for their communities, it’s a dangerous job. BUT that doesn’t mean I excuse bad behavior, they can still drop as low as any person or gain as much respect as any person, it’s all character dependent. I lost respect for these cops because of their actions. If you tell everyone they must “earn” your respect, they can’t go down in your eyes, and that breeds contempt of the bat immediately, also shows you to be a bad person because you see yourself as superior to others, start with a general baseline granted to every person, let them embarrass themselves to you, or arise to the occasion.

So with that argument, you don’t respect the troops either? Soldiers serve the commander in chief. I respect cops and military members because they put their life on the line so I don’t have to. That doesn’t excuse mistakes or bad decisions that they make, but I still respect that they serve the country.
