A friend who is a retired Staff Sergeant told me one time, “Never trust a cop. I don’t care how friendly they are, they’re not you’re friend. They’ll say anything to get what they want out of you.”
I was young and naive and replied, “How can you say that? You were one of them.”
He replied, “That’s how I know and why I say it.”
Downvote if you want, it was an actual conversation with the man in his home. I don’t think cops are the bad guys, but we’re the group standing up for them and they’ve stood down too many times when we’re under attack by the same ones who attack them and want their jobs.
Also remember that affirmative action means there is a LIMIT on how smart a cop can be. In a sane world, there would be a MINIMUM IQ, not a maximum IQ! But that would be Rayciss...
It hurts how much this applies to the military. Smart/hard workers/risk takers get out. Dumb/lazy/cowards stay in, get promoted and end up in charge.
The only exceptions are the 10 percent of people who are trying to "change it from the inside". Generally you can tell them apart from the rest because they are usually angry, look older than they are, and stay sitting in mid level positions to retirement.
I couldn’t imagine staying around fellow law enforcement that bully a woman from standing in public and do nothing as her property is stolen. These cops need to be fired.
Irony alert: This is the same city that took Kelo's property by eminent domain and gave it to a developer. Getting higher taxes on the land was "in the public interest." SCOTUS upheld this taking.
Cops are your jailers, not your friends. Their number one priority is serving their authoritarian overlords and collecting “muh pension.”
That said, I would never give them a hard time, and I would certainly help a cop in trouble on the streets. But we’re not friends.
YES, FINALLY ANOTHER PEDE THAT SPEAKS THIS TRUTH!!!!!!!!!! You sir are awesome.
DONUT EATERS SERVE THEIR PAYMASTERS (mostly)
Watch the "don't talk to cops" video on YouTube.

Well said. The good ones leave pretty quickly.

I've heard the issue is that higher iqs tend to leave the force. I think we'd need to address ways to entice them to stay.
Yep, they either see it's corrupt and hopeless, or they're just kept out in the first place or prevented from advancing by Affirmative Action.
Dieworsity is our greatest weakness.

You assume they hire smart cops: Police department disqualifies anyone whose IQ is “too high".

I applaud your balanced and nuanced viewpoint.
