If a mask can stop water droplets contained in sneezes and coughs, then so can a handkerchief. And not having a warm, moist petri dish strapped to your breathe holes is a huge plus.
Not everyone will do it but the majority of people who purposely expose their noses while wearing their mandatory masks would do it, so you're already ahead of the game.
