If he joins the libs and fails to bring one of the other conservative justices with him, Clarence Thomas makes that decision instead as the most senior conservative justice.
So I think once ACB is confirmed, we'll actually see Roberts tack back to the right. He may despise Trump with every bone in his body, but I doubt he wants opinions related to the more contentious issues decided by the Court dominated by Thomas.

I don’t think he despises Trump. I think he’s been blackmailed. There’s always a “swing” conservative justice and that means they target families.
