I would like to recommend to my Frens the gerber 06 fast. It is my everyday carry knife. There are two versions automatic and asssisted opening and you can get them in drop point or tanto.
If you conceal carry and are permitted to conceal a knife as well the Kabar TDI backup knife is an awesome off hand blade designed specifically for helping retain your pistol in a struggle. Also one of my edc knives.
Fixed blade I waffle between my kabar fighting knife, gerber strong arm and gerber mark 2. They ride on my vest or back pack.
Yes there are better options I’m sure and some knife guy will probably know them but these are just some of my personal favorites.
