Now recently cough the influx of a certain religion in Germany has lead to those children being taught outside of school. They get taught extremists views by their religion of peace.
I would assume the same is happening in France and that is their reaction to it. So trust me - this is against Islam and not against Christians.

They could easily just say Islam is forbidden like Christianity is forbidden in Islamic countries. My school temporarily got rid of recess when I was in 2nd grade and then when kids got rowdy, they blamed the boys and pushed for us to get tested for attention deficit disorders.
The reason I said it didn’t last long was because this was a private school with tons of parents who were doctors, stock brokers, business owners etc. Parents who were surgeons and whatnot got pretty pissed off that their kid was being labeled as a ‘tard and made some threats. They look up to the government to solve everything (and complain that it didn't solve it the right way) so closing home school is not some coercive agenda from Macron.
What's happening is some areas have reached critical mass of muslims. To the point that the government needs to look like they are doing something about it. Putting an end to home schooling is one aspect of that because some muslims take their kids out of school to teach them some radical crap at home or in underground islamic schools. But it's just politics, for show.
End of the day, it won't have much effect because everyone in France (and truly most of Europe or even the US) is still in denial about islam. They insist that islam is a peaceful religion like any other, while radical (or political) islam is some kind of perversion of it by a fringe of bad people.

Thank God there was a group of lawyers that defended the rights of parents to educate their own children. The only source for materials were from the schooling used for foreign diplomats children. It's a confusing process, and I am sure my ignorance in fully understanding it has created some headaches for myself. Why do you need an "accredited" homeschool program for a 1st grader? Is that a requirement under state law? Really shouldn't need it at any level, but for a high schooler it might be reasonable for a parent to feel that accreditation might help with college admissions. If the state is requiring this, you might want to get involved with a homeschooling group that's lobbying state legislators to dump the requirement.
