Can only comment from German POV: We have "religion" as a class in school. There are 3 courses and you take one of them: catholic, (Lutheran) protestant and "rest".
In the Christian courses you talk about the bible and morals etc.
The rest talks about ethics and morals etc and is usually taught by a Christian as well.
Now recently cough the influx of a certain religion in Germany has lead to those children being taught outside of school. They get taught extremists views by their religion of peace.
I would assume the same is happening in France and that is their reaction to it. So trust me - this is against Islam and not against Christians.
The problem here is that France is letting religious extremists into their country while doing nothing to control them. They could easily just say Islam is forbidden like Christianity is forbidden in Islamic countries. But they don't want to look "raycist" so they're making it out as a religion problem not an Islamic problem.
This will eventually spin around and be used against Christianity in 10-fold even though Islam was the implied target.
I tried reading the follow-up Tweets by the Frenchies with translate, and... they're in another damn world. A lot of bitching and a lot of authoritarianism. I can only conclude some people love being conquered by what amounts to high-end secretaries called French politicians.
You may be right, but Macron has been coming out lately against all the immigrants coming into France, and he's not the only one in Europe. There's a weird anti-immigration message they're suddenly trying to push and it's raising all kinds of red flags with me, but I don't know why.

Seriously, ALL of Europe has been experiencing skyrocketing crime and terrorism because of all the muslims and third world garbage they keep bringing into their countries and then continue to wonder what the problem is.
Saying no to the former colonies being allowed to resettle in the land of their colonial overlords would cause even more chaos than the civil wars that led to their independence.
I guess. I'm not French so I can't really say but I think France needs to grow some balls and set standards that even those coming from current and former colonies need to meet if they wish to live in the French homeland.
The rest of Europe also needs to grow some balls and send all but the most productive and law abiding of their migrants back to whatever shithole they came from. PC/WOKEness is destroying millennia old cultures all over Europe and if they don't reject globalism and multiculturalism and embrace nationalism and tradition then those Western civilizations will collapse.
