A bit of context since some people around here like to read headlines and make up a ton of bullshit as a result.

First, home schooling in France is rare and is regulated and monitored by the government. The French, while complaining about everything, are attached to their institutions and public education is one of them. There is no mass exodus of students to home schooling and in fact schools have reopened.

They look up to the government to solve everything (and complain that it didn't solve it the right way) so closing home school is not some coercive agenda from Macron.

What's happening is some areas have reached critical mass of muslims. To the point that the government needs to look like they are doing something about it. Putting an end to home schooling is one aspect of that because some muslims take their kids out of school to teach them some radical crap at home or in underground islamic schools. But it's just politics, for show.

End of the day, it won't have much effect because everyone in France (and truly most of Europe or even the US) is still in denial about islam. They insist that islam is a peaceful religion like any other, while radical (or political) islam is some kind of perversion of it by a fringe of bad people.

Very few people are willing to come out and say that islam is incompatible with democracy and those who do are ostracized and branded as far right.

This is true publicly. Privately all French complain about the Muslims.

They would be like the Borg when disconnected from the collective.

I can promise you that San Francisco would experience a massive brain drain if NPR disappeared.

Where would they get their “intellectual” propaganda, whoops, I mean... Talking points? Leftist would be so lost without NPR

I appreciate the context. France is full of white flag-raising losers it seems. Should've elected Le Pen.

And Islam is not a "religion of peace". It isn't even arguably a religion. It's a violent cult that calls for terrorism against infidels.

France is also full of dedicated protestors who have been about protest on and off for centuries. The Yellow Vests are currently out there.

Doesn't help that the Left has you fired for saying anything true.

you could have prefaced with, "France is a different educational system so there are a lot of correlations being made that don't exist which I aim to clear up" instead of calling everyone out....

thanks for the info though

As if the secular law had any meaning whatsoever to muslims.

Stupid idea, only affects law abiding citizens negatively.
