Can hit planes and see the whole beam no problem
As a pilot: please don’t lase planes. Please. If it happens, we have to file a report to the FAA, and they WILL try to find you.
Also, it can temporarily blind pilots, especially at night. At least in-country, it’s a very common tactic of insurgents, to the point that all aircrew have access to laser protection eyewear just because it happens so much.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I have one on a weapon that can go for miles with a very tight beam, probably similar to yours.
