All it takes is one family who doesn't share the same values regardless of ethnicity to bring down a neighborhood. A few years ago during the Obama occupation, a family from the South or West side of Chicago was moved into a house on Sheffield close to Clyborn near Best Buy.

This was a nice neighborhood mixed with young singles and families. The house was next to a playground. The family moved in but didn't upgrade and adapt to the neighborhood but instead brought the South or West side with them. Instead of curtains, they hung bedsheets in the windows. Every time I would walk to Best Buy, I had to cross the street because they were always hanging outside on the sidewalk, by their cars in a way that no one else could pass. The playground became a hangout for the teens instead of who it was intended for just like on the South and West sides. People began to move out of the neighborhood.

Finally the year was up and they were gone. The house was completely torn down and two new ones were built. The neighborhood has returned to normal, the playground is safe for children again.

Lightfoot is trying to remove aldermanic privilege that prevents "affordable housing" from being built in their wards as well as disallowing developers the ability to pay fees instead of building "affordable housing." She considers it a right to live in a "posh neighborhood."
