I took a high school civics class in the early 1990s and can still remember Rehnquist was chief justice of the Supreme court, Tom Foley was Speaker of the House, and George Mitchell was Senate Majority leader at that time.
In 2020, mostly thanks to Trump blasting them on Twitter and theIr public meltdowns afterwards, I can identify more mayors, governors, and other public officials in multiple cities and states than I could in my entire life.
We need to step up! I hate to say it - because conservatives tend to hate policing people and are busy out there living life. Unlike liberals who love power and have empty lives with nothing to do.
But we are in a time of crisis.
Time for conservatives to do your duty and take the place of these people. And then, if you find out the position you're sitting is pointless bureaucracy/authoritarian busybody bullshit - then before you leave office, campaign to get rid of that office forever.
It's true that some Democrats vote for people like this. But a lot of the time, we lose these positions just because the crazy person shows up and no conservative bothered to challenge them.
Step up! Trump left a life of renown and luxury and easy retirement, and he did that for us.
